I'm pretty baffled.

Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans pretty badly, yet the local media coverage on the situation is kinda just touch-and-go.

I've been watching CNN to catch up with the news, and it is sad that in such dire circumstances, the ugly side of mankind prevails. Accounts of rape, violence, mere senseless killing, these aren't things you would expect in a catastrophe. Yet perhaps, you may argue that Katrina isn't huge enough to be deemed one. The whole city was... gone. Babies and children die of exhaustion, adults kill themselves and one another out of fear and who knows what other reasons.

Perhaps I am ignorant of the rescue operations there, but it seems to me that, compared to the Tsunami incident, the rescue ops are a lot slower. And sadly, no one here in Singapore seems to care a hoot about it.

The people need food and water, amongst many other things. And... a lot more.

A little amount will go a long, long way.

this thing is their 'Tsunami'.

sad to see it happening. and sadder to see it turning into another anti-Bush crusade.

though i'm no Bush lover (well, the other type, yes) cant they just put the blame aside and concentrate on what's really important now? which is to sort out the aftermath? no?

i think 1 reason why there is little coverage is cos the diaster is still on-going, thus less media coverage. now tt rescue missions r going on, there is slightly more coverage (though nt enuh). anyway new orleans is on the other side of the earth. who gives a damn. just like ppl in the states dun give a damn abt tsunami in asia. u think they care?! they r probably hooked up with their new reality show coming up in Fox or ABC!

Okie. Something gives me the idea it is actually not a popular topic. HahAhHaha...

anyway, this is what happens in life ya, when things happen, the first natural reaction would be to push the blame to someone else, than to rectify the problem at hand.

humans.
tsk.
